Submissions
The Canopy publishes literary fiction, speculative fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, conceptual essays and visual art.
Anyone is welcome to submit. We seek especially to promote transgender and nonbinary writers and artists. Submissions that stand out will be those that capture the unique perspectives that often come from the effort to preserve one’s identity in the face of ill-fitting or oppressive social constructs.
We are always open for submissions.
Submissions must be your own previously unpublished work.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome.
We do not accept submissions written by or in any way developed using AI technology. Published submissions later found to have used AI will be unpublished.
Note: If you know any of our editors personally please submit using a pseudonym and modified bio so we may give your work an unbiased review.
Fiction
We seek high quality literary fiction about life as we know it, but dare to explore the outlandish and improbable too. We love innovative writing, surprising plots and characters we’ll still be thinking about years from now.
We are primarily interested in short stories up to 10,000 words, though longer works may be considered if we just can’t put them down.

Essay submissions should be 5000 words or less.

Photos, paintings, drawings, sketches, sculptures, comics, political cartoons, etc.
